Guys, Guys...
This should be a thing.

----> EDIT

So... disclaimer. I just found this thing on Pinterest and thought it was clever, and much like the Impossible Astronaut day thing we Whovians did a while back. I honestly hadn't thought through the possible ramifications of the whole thing.
That being said, three points:

1) All the people fussing about ratings... TV ratings in the US and the UK both have NOTHING to do with Internet feedback. It's a measurement of how many people actually watch from an actual television. That's why ratings are so screwed for shows like Doctor Who, etc right now -- because people watch things that they've T-vo'd, otherwise recorded, found on the Internet, or decided to wait for Netflix for. The programmers are having problems figuring out how to accurately read how many people an audience is reaching, because very few people (comparatively) actually watch things when they air anymore.
There is little-to-no way that a short holding-your-breath period before Unleashing the Fandom on the Internet could negatively affect the show -- on the contrary, this could actually provide a bit of unique press, if the right people heard about it. And for those of us watching overseas, we don't get it for, like, another six months anyway. So three days on two (or more) different occasions, involving less than half the fandom, in a way that DOESN'T ACTUALLY AFFECT RATINGS THAT MUCH is not really something for people to freak out about.

We understand if people don't want to participate, but the truth is that this little game of ours wouldn't hurt Sherlock anymore than the lack of Internet reactions hurt TV shows in the days before the Internet existed. Think about THAT one for a minute. :D

2) Anyone who thinks that enough Sherlockians to make any kind of difference could honestly keep their mouths shut and their fingers from hitting "post" for three whole days is crazy and underestimates the insanity of this fandom.

3) There was no anti-Moffat, anti-Gatiss purpose behind my sharing this -- Moffat is literally my writing hero. He's one of my favorite people on the planet. The fact that anyone could see this as any kind of writer-hate post sickens and saddens me.

4) Seriously people... It's a joke. On the Internet. From arguably THE crackiest fandom on the planet. Lighten up a bit. *Eye roll*

*End rant.*
